ITALIAN GIRL

I sent you bright oranges from Cefalü
That flamed like the love I offered to you.
Purple wine from Pachino I sipped,
Like kisses evoking the mist of your lips.
You sat in the hot Agrigento sun with me
At a tiny white table under a tree,
And the Saracen dark in your level eyes,
With their strange power to hypnotize,
Flooded my will. With a sudden start,
Golden doors opened under my heart.
How urgency calls up the color red,
Where what is shown is all that is said.
A shaft from the sky of Tyrrhenian blue
Bolted through me just as I entered you.
Small yellow blooms went flat as we rolled,
invading each other, body and soul,
And as I kissed your soft breezes out.
A spectrum exploded, and colors poured out.
