Borzoi
Smiling to itself, it swings along
as though it were a single
file of one-this two-dimensional hound.
And yet it never treads upon the ground.
But, slung from the spine
that sways from the upturned tail
to the downturned nose, it reaches down
fore and hind as if to reassure
by such quadruple touch its shadow.
A silver mind appreciates (every inch
the prince of elegance), surveys
the splendid vistas and the swept snows
as, curved in delicate relief, its way-
graceful as Astaire in furs of
silk and slender as the wind-it wends.
