Math
We are the sum of everything and everyone
we've ever known and ever will become.
We are subtracted from air, landscape, ideas
of swirling integers-the plus of minus.
We sub-divide to quotients of emotion, love,
the arithmetic of skin and motive, proving that we live.
We multiply to one last courage, one last fear,
from calculus and algebras of heretofore to there.
We are the trig of arcs and angles, slides and planes,
worldwide and personal, that walk us upright where we've lain.
Backwards, forwards, sideways, whatever the amount
we deduce from Laocoönic posit of instruct, we count.
