You Conjure a Mother and Father

You came anyway.
Earth and Sky repeat their difficulties
and had you listened,
you might have hovered at the gate
longer, an idea instead
of a sickness for life.
You threw yourself
at them, made them
venture.
And they, being almost new
to seduction, gladly, partly,
gave you the round,
sweet, poisonous world.
