Isaac
I sit in the light of my father's house.
All that's over, what went between us.
To be sacrificed, even the thought of it,
is insane, but we can live with anything-
change friends, desires, change what we covet
in our father's house, and live with anything.
In guilt there is no middle ground, in guilt
the mind revolves upon deception. Waste.
We went together to the sea and at the sea
watched sailboats tack a cold expanse.
The fact of life, he said, is that we change
each other, change, and never are the same.
Regard the shift and tend the sea
that each idea and man must cross alone.
