Kate Brash as Divorced Midget
Spontaneously-and without the least rehearsal-
one of our two six-year-old daughters
indicated she would be attending the Unitarian
Pot Luck Supper not as a member of the family
but as a divorced midget. Small, she said,
female and unmarried . . . letting the logic
of it fill the car's interior like
a delicious scent. So Kate, fed
up with the antagonistic bunch
of us, expresses protest, having
earlier that afternoon observed
her parents throwing insults and
utensils not exactly at each other but
close enough to spread alarm.
