Fame
The content of his poems
is unspeakable, un-
readable. People leaf
through his books
and die-they do not
sell well. He is advised
to change his occupation:
"Have you tried insurance?"
Still, he knows better
and smilingly continues
to write: walking down
the street, lying in bed-
whenever a word or phrase
pops into his head.
He spends long hours
perfecting his craft.
"Doesn't it bother you
that no one can read
your poems?" But each time
he sits down to write
he knows there is one person
who is reading every word.
And on that person
he places his whole future.
