For the Children, about Their Deaths
In the beginning of course
May they be far; be waiting
Where you will like to be,
On the other side of your labor.
Look! You are running toward them
Into your work and love
As if to your salvation.
They are why you are not
The beasts who are never changing.
They are why you are moving.
After your marriage and work,
After all you have chosen,
May they belong to you.
Then you are finally yours,
Choosing what you have chosen.
I who will die in my childhood
Where we could see for miles
Am talking about myself.
I write you a letter from there.
You will come to your own conclusions.
