There
There where the lion dines on straw
and walks at ease with dogs and men,
and a boy's idling fingers draw
the unfanged adder out of his den;
and the hills lift up leafy hands,
lemon, cedar and olive scented,
blessing the herbed and honied lands
where the twelve tribes at last are tented;
there where the river bangled with amber
journeys to fields made full of grain,
and the men rafted over remember
not one moment of wilderness pain;
and the dove mounts her woven house
high in the teeming Tree of Life,
fruit of whose glancing, tropic boughs
drops to the hand without a knife:
Lord of the poor, who roared from Zion,
sounding the way of David's heir,
there where the lamb is Judah's lion,
there is our home. Then lead us there.
