Her Back

Her back holds its bones
Tightly together, like a priest
Blessing sheep. Underneath
The skin, muscle fibers stretch
Feel for more blood.
Her back picks up signals
From weak feathers, promising
To help them stay in the air.
Brown back, let's you and I
Grapple over the same bones;
Back, hold me to your muscles
And claim me for your lost spine.
