ROSEMARY THOMAS
MARK VAN DOREN
Many sheep trust, and sleep
in the folds of his mind.
Sometimes he lets them out,
one by one,
in the greenest meadow.
Their wool is like milkweed mist,
trails the sharp thorn,
becomes the mellow sun,
becomes, too, the golden
and dangerous tufts
that together the river
and the bushes gather
for questing Psyche.
