Never Having Been a Lizard

Yesterday I spied a lizard screening my lunch
Peeking at our conversation
Today I stared back at something I had never seen before
A lizard clinging to my garden wall
Under the bougainvillea.
She was unwilling to get closer
To a vigorous lizard waiting on the flat patio wall
He waved his tiny head, shimmied his tail
His whole body pleaded
She turned her back till he whispered a lizard's love poem
Turned her tiny head around, shied from side to shy
Stretched her willingness, crept to a patio floor
Both lizards panting their ecstasy
I turned my head
Not to embarrass the love-bed.
