Remnants of sunlight shift in the dark air.
The dark surrounds the bare El Paso hills.
Storm-leavings, grains of sand, lie everywhere
Although she dusted once today. She fills
Her plants with water, sees the black soil drink,
And heave, and spread its crevices, and sink.
