Wants

three poems
WANTS
What one wants there it is apparently.
I chivvy and chafe myself into
A beautiful titillation and by
The time that I am all set for the so
Precious moment it has changed slightly
And I am not absolutely certain
Whether what I am going to get is the
Desired object or whether by some turn
Of fate or fancy I do not quite see
It in the same way as I did at first.
This is very tiresome as either one has
To begin again and do one's best
To think about what one wanted as it was
When one began to want it or divest
Oneself of the idea of wanting.
The second is easier but uncomfortable
Because one still keeps on wondering
If after all one oughtn't to have well
Tried harder to want tried like hell
To want exactly what one was wanting
