College Girls

With the opportune moment
They snicker together
And pretend they're not observed
By our wolfish eyes.
Their puberty is not only
In their age
And their blunt eye-refusals
Of our aims,
But also in the bathtub
That marked them clean,
Winter smelling;
In their figures
That don't jump out of form
Like Twentieth Century novels.
We watch them until they turn
Behind the corner's avarice,
Their playing legs faking unawareness;
Until breasts and rhyming hips
Turn, campus bound.
