Personality: Split
Here in this room I am a solved equation,
Simple and uncomplex, a family face,
Equally sans ability to occasion
Alarm or curiosity or disgrace;
. That face a map by which beholders drew
The partly likable, partly irritant picture:
Person, opinion, impulse rarely true-
While underneath, the Lie's invisible stricture
Tightens on agony, binds the smiling cheek
Into its verisimilitude of form.
Mouth, speak no names they never heard you speak;
Heart, throttle down your isolated storm;
Subtle and insignificant, pale Mind
Treads its allotted rut with all due care,
Blunting the accent, blurring its foreign kind:
Another truth, another color hair.
