Only the Dome

Flora $. Arnstein

ONLY THE DOME

Only the dome, man-made,

Borrows the curve of hills;

The houses stand square-shouldered,

And uptiered buildings launch rigid rockets at the sky.

Only the dome follows the curve of hills.

Man is not yet

Coördinate with the flexile arc;

His the line, the astringent steel,

The acid angularity of stone.
