Miracle
TWO POEMS
MIRACLE
Here in the white dusk flowers a pear
Whiter than the pale sky, a little more
Material than air.
Already its petals drift on the spring's breath;
Stars frost the bare twigs, in a brief
Illusion of death.
Wind breaks thin leaves, and the stars move. . . .
Today I bring you the sweet golden
Fruit of our love.
