More Lovely than Antiquity

There comes a moment in her veins
Not of the earth, not of the rains,
Something not of stalks and stems
But of dim crowns and diadems, royal headbands
Something commanding her to be
More ancient than antiquity
And to soothe her head on a pike above
The vacant circumstance of love.
