Sailor's Polka

A FEW MORE POEMS

               SAILOR'S POLKA
Down in the dusk by the cliffs of Bude
A bark at anchor lies;
From her shadowy deck the shuffle of feet
And words and a tune arise:
   There's Spring without
   And a song within,
   For a ship is homeward bound O!
    The happy shout
   Of my sailor lad
   From the shining deck will sound O!
   Let the gay waves roll
   And the church bells ring,
   And the town with joy go mad O!
   Away T'I dance
    To meet the Spring,
   And greet my sailor lad O!
